For more than 30 years, Mediadesign University has successfully operated at two locations in Germany (Berlin and Düsseldorf), effectively combining academic teaching with practical experience. Freelance Lecturer / Instructor (m/f/d) for University Preparation Courses

Subjects: English, Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences (Physics/Chemistry), Economics (Business Administration/Economics), and German (German as a Foreign/Second Language)

To strengthen our team, we are looking for committed freelance lecturers/instructors (m/f/d) on a fee basis for our university preparation courses, supporting international prospective students in preparing for degree studies in Germany.

The position is expected to commence in September 2026.

We are seeking lecturers in the following subjects:

  • English (B2 level or higher)
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science
  • Economics (Business Administration/Economics)
  • German (German as a Foreign/Second Language)

Applications are welcome for one or more subjects.

Teaching takes place exclusively on site at our Berlin campus. Online teaching is not planned.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct face-to-face teaching in university preparation courses.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver classes in accordance with the curriculum.
  • Teach subject-specific knowledge and academic skills required for university studies.
  • Prepare and assess coursework, examinations, and written tests.
  • Provide individual support and guidance to international students.
  • Contribute to the further development of teaching materials and curricula.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and coordination sessions.

Your Profile

You have:

  • A completed university degree in the relevant subject area;
  • A teaching qualification or a comparable pedagogical qualification;
  • Alternatively, a relevant Master's degree or Diploma with proven teaching experience;
  • Experience in adult education, university preparation, or teaching international students;
  • Excellent German and/or English language skills, as well as an independent and structured way of working;
  • Enjoyment of working in an intercultural higher education environment.

In addition, the following are advantageous:

  • Experience preparing students for university entrance or final examinations (upper secondary level or equivalent);
  • Teaching experience at secondary schools (including FOS), international schools (IB Diploma), Studienkollegs, or comparable institutions;
  • Experience in higher education teaching;
  • Knowledge of German as a Foreign/Second Language (DaF/DaZ);
  • Confident use of digital teaching and learning platforms.
