We are looking for reliable freelance field photographers based in the Western Cape to assist with a large-scale photography project. The photographs will support the preservation and indexing of historical and genealogical records. This is freelance / contract-based project work, not permanent employment.
No professional photography experience is required, as full instructions will be provided to shortlisted applicants before work begins. A suitable smartphone camera is sufficient, provided it meets the minimum requirements (50MP or higher).
What success looks like in this role
A successful freelancer will be dependable, detail-oriented, able to follow instructions carefully, and able to submit clear, full-size original images that meet the required project standards. Good communication and regular uploads will be important throughout the assignment.
Responsibilities
• Travel to assigned local sites in or near your area
• Take clear, consistent photographs according to provided instructions
• Ensure images are clear, readable, and submitted in full-size original format
• Upload image files regularly as required
• Follow all photo, submission, and file-handling instructions carefully
• Communicate clearly regarding availability, progress, and any issues encountered on site
• Work respectfully and responsibly.
Qualifications / Requirements
Applicants must:
• Be based in the Western Cape, South Africa excluding Cape Town Municiple area.
• Have a smartphone with a minimum 50 MP rear camera
• Have autofocus
• Be able to upload full-size original image files
• Have reliable internet access / data.
• Be comfortable walking and working outdoors
• Be dependable, responsive, and able to follow instructions carefully
